Getting Started with SolidWorks

Welcome to the SolidWorks and the SolidWorks community. Review the following to help you get started with SolidWorks and partisipate in the SolidWorks Community.

Access the Customer Portal

Create a Customer Portal account to search the Knowledge Base, download software, and access other subscription service features. Keep this page open to continue.

Before you Get Started
Review system hardware and graphics card requirements.
Review the SolidWorks installation guide, releases notes, and what's new.
Be ready to activate your software using your serial #. The serial # is included with a email from SolidWorks. SNL users, check with your system administrator.

Install the software from DVD or from web download.

Note: You must be logged into to the Customer Portal to see all downloads.

Start SolidWorks, activate your software if needed and continue to step#3.

Getting to Know SolidWorks

Start Solidworks and access the Tutorials section from the Help pull-down menu. These tutorial are a great start point for getting to know SolidWorks.

Start Solidworks and access the SolidWorks Help document from the Help pull-down menu. Review the 1st couple of section to familiarize yourself with SolidWorks, document types, and the interface.

Start Solidworks and access the What's New document from the Help pull-down menu. Use this document to learn more about the new release of SolidWorks.

Connect with the Community

Visit the Discussion Forums to connect and communicate with other users in the SolidWorks community.

 

User Groups are a valuable resource to all members of the SolidWorks community. Networking with your peers helps your company become more productive.

 

SolidWorks Express is a bi-monthly electronic newsletter for the SolidWorks community. Each issue has value tech tips and other information from SolidWorks. An archive of these Tech Tips is available with the SolidWorks Customer Portal.

 

Attend events hosted by your VAR (Value Added Reseller)

Customer Portal login and an active customer service subscription contract is required
