I have some exciting news for you: your online marketing potential has just grown exponentially now that we've replaced the Manufacturing Network with SupplierSource.
SupplierSource is an easier, faster, more efficient and powerful version of the Manufacturing Network. It is a free, flexible online marketing tool that allows you to search for or exhibit manufacturing services among thousands of suppliers around the world. Some key benefits include: - easier to use interface; - CAD agnostic (you can communicate with suppliers regardless of format); - more efficient search capabilities; - more flexibility so you can customize your profile; - more information from user reviews of supplier services; and, - better visibility of visitor traffic to your Web site profile.
Part of Dassault Systemes 3DVIA family of products, SupplierSource creates a "matchmaking" forum that enables manufacturers and engineers to form business relationships that benefit both parties. Manufacturers of any size can create an online marketing identity for their services - complete with photos, videos, etc. - without the costs and headaches of doing it in-house or hiring an outside firm. It enables engineers to find the right manufacturer for the parts they need quickly and easily.
All you need to do is visit www.suppliersource.com, log in using your e-mail address, and reset your password. Once you have logged in, you can review and edit your profile, which we have already transferred and updated from the Manufacturing Network. There are a series of helpful step-by-step blog posts to help you edit your profile to make the most of this new opportunity.
This is your chance to capitalize on the Internet's inherent marketing potential to help drive sales. It will give you a chance to bring your services to life online for fellow SolidWorks users, as well as those using other CAD systems. All SolidWorks users will hear about this new, better way to find custom manufacturers on the customer portal under SolidWorks News, so now is the time to make sure your profile is up to date.
For more information about the transition and what it means to you, visit the SupplierSource blog at http://suppliersource.wordpress.com or contact Don Swavely at don.swavely@3ds.com.

SolidWorks 2008 SP3 installation improvement SolidWorks 2008 SP3.0 is now available for download. The following is a change to the Installation Manager to help improve the experience:
The Installation Manager provides an estimate of disk space that will be used for new installs, major version upgrades and Service Packs.
Prior to 2008 SP3, the disk size estimate when applying a Service pack incorrectly showed the much larger size of a full install. This disk space estimation error did not affect what was actually downloaded, ie requesting a Service Pack would always download the SolidWorks patch file versus a full product download.
In SP3, applying a Service Pack now shows the appropriate estimated disk space.
Note that using the Installation Manager to apply a Service Pack will by default upgrade all the products based on your serial number entitlement. For example if you have SolidWorks Office Premium, applying a patch will by default download the files needed to upgrade all Premium products such as SolidWorks Explorer and COSMOSWorks. SolidWorks recommends all products be at the same Service Pack revision number.
