Customer Portal Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the Customer Portal?

Answer: The Customer Portal is a web-based hub for SolidWorks resources including:

  • The latest versions of SolidWorks software and service pack updates
  • A Knowledge Base and wide range of technical documents, such as Help, Tech Tips, Macros, and Best Practices
  • Ability to make enhancement requests
  • View your service requests
  • View your SPR's
  • Edit your customer profile
  • Participate in a moderated discussion forum

Question: What is the SolidWorks login account?

Answer: SolidWorks login account is an email based account used to log into the SolidWorks Customer Portal. For full access to all features within the Customer Portal, you also must have a valid subscription service contract and a registered serial number.

To register a product, login and select Register My Products. Then following the instructions.

Question: Do I need an active subscription service contract to login?

Answer: No, however you will need a current subscription service contract to access all features within the Customer Portal.

SolidWorks Subscription Services give your organization access to valuable software updates and information provided by SolidWorks Corporation, as well as highly skilled technical resources supplied by a global network of SolidWorks authorized value-added resellers (VARs). Member benefits include:

  • A comprehensive set of VAR-supplied technical services and telephone support.
  • The opportunity to participate in Beta software testing and other innovative customer programs.
  • Full access to the Customer Portal, a web-based hub for SolidWorks resources including:
    • Download the latest versions of SolidWorks software and service pack updates
    • Knowledge Base and wide range of technical documents, such as Help, Tech Tips, Macros, and Best Practices
    • Ability to make enhancement requests
    • View your service requests
    • Edit your customer profile
    • Participate in a moderated discussion forum
    • Access to additional web based technical materials and content

Question: Why aren't all features accessible?

Answer: The reason some features may not be visible or selectable are:

- Log in with a serial number instead of the login (email based) account.

- Did not register a serial number to the login account.

- No valid subscription service contract.

Note: Warning messages describing the reason for limited access appear at the bottom of the main Customer Portal page.

Question: Why do I need to register my products?

Answer: This will associate your product serial number to your account so you can get license codes, access to the Knowledge Base, downloads, and view your Service Requests and SPR's.

For full access to all features, you must:

  1. create and use your Customer Portal login account
  2. have registered your SolidWorks serial number using the Register My Products section of the Customer Portal
  3. have an active subscription support contact

Question : How do I register my products?

Answer : When installing SolidWorks, you choose your registration method: web, email, or fax. If you select one of the web registration methods, the registration code will be expedited and immediately delivered via email. Create your login account and select Register My Products from the Customer Portal Home page.

Question: Can I still register via email or fax?

 

Answer: Yes. However, web registration is preferred and recommended. If you choose not to take advantage of Customer Center, the Registration Wizard will generate a registration form that must be sent to SolidWorks Corporation via email or fax. Upon sufficient processing time, the registration code will be provided by return email or fax.

Question: Can I register multiple seats?

 

Answer: Yes, Web registration allows multiple seats to be registered at a single time.

Question: What types licenses can be registered?

 

Answer: Commercial or Educational licenses of SolidWorks may be registered on the Customer Portal.

Question: What types of registrations will be rejected?

 

Answer: During the web registration, you will be notified if information is missing or appears to be inaccurate. Upon completion, you will be notified if the registration has succeeded and the code has been emailed, or to contact SolidWorks directly. The following registrations will not be processed:
· Invalid or expired serial numbers
· Installations owned by a different company
· Specified "Additional Contact" is associated with a different company.

Question: Everyone at my company uses the same email address. What should we do?

Answer: Since a Sign-in account is unique to each user, each user should have a unique email address. The SolidWorks registration code will be sent to the email address.

Question: What if I type the wrong or need to change my email address?

Answer: At present, a user can NOT modify the email address. Please contact SolidWorks directly at Customerportalhelp@solidworks.com.

Question: My Corporate Profile is incorrect.  How do I fix this?

Answer: If your Corporate Profile is incorrect, please contact SolidWorks via phone or email as directed to resolve this. You must contact your reseller directly to change your company name or location.

Question: Can I register my COSMOS license on the Customer Portal?

Answer: Presently a user can NOT register their Cosmos license on the Customer Portal. Please visit the following URL to request commercial the license file:
