Environmental Performance Indicators
Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks evaluates and tracks our impact for six environmental indicators:
- Carbon emissions evaluation showed our top three activities are business travel, employee commuting, and purchased electricity; assessment and planning to reduce impact is underway, including carbon offsetting for some travel-related activities
- Energy consumption is a significant portion of our emissions; we are evaluating ways to reduce or offset our energy use, including purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs)
- Water consumption initiatives include low-flow plumbing and water recycling
- Paper consumption reduction initiatives involve increasing recycled content for standard copier paper and “badge-in” printing to activate print requests
- Waste generation is the focus of multiple initiatives—increasing the number of materials recycled, providing reusable dishes and flatware, and exploring municipal composting of food scraps
- Electronic waste (E-waste) reduction has a goal of 100% reuse or recycle of disposed IT assets, with an assessment underway to determine how we’re doing
