SolidWorks named one of the START-IT 2008 Hottest Companies
Fifth time in six years company notches award for delivering CAD software that advances the manufacturing industry
CONCORD, Mass., June 23, 2008 — Building on a string of industry accolades for the company and its products, SolidWorks Corporation has been named by START-IT magazine as one of the publication’s 2008 Hottest Companies.
The Hottest Companies Awards honor software and technology providers whose innovative applications or products have benefited the manufacturing industry. Judges evaluated companies based on a variety of criteria, including revenue growth, important customer wins, and significant events and accomplishments during the past year.
The Hottest Companies Awards recognized 25 winners for 2008. “The companies who have been named ‘hot’ this year are among the leading-edge technology providers within manufacturing. These innovative companies are driving manufacturing solutions into the next generation,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director of START-IT. “As the manufacturing industry evolves, so must the technology companies that provide solutions to advanced manufacturers. The 25 winning companies this year are having a great impact on the manufacturing space as they strive to provide the most complete, innovative technology possible to their customers.”
In April, SolidWorks 2008, the latest version of the leading 3D CAD software, won the 2007 NASA Tech Briefs Readers’ Choice Product of the Year Award. More than 190,000 readers chose SolidWorks 2008 as the product they thought was the most significant new product introduced to the engineering community in 2007.
In February, Control Engineering magazine revealed that SolidWorks 2008 captured the most readers’ votes in its Engineers’ Choice Award in the application and programming software/applications category. Each year Control Engineering receives hundreds of new product announcements, spanning the entire spectrum of industrial automation and control technologies. Through the magazine’s annual Engineers’ Choice Award competition, readers decide which products are the most noteworthy and will have the greatest impact on their business.
The industry has also recently recognized SolidWorks customers for their achievements. Fresno Valves & Castings Inc., E.J. Ajax and Sons Inc., Kimberley Kampers Pty Ltd, and Livingston & Haven were recently named to Managing Automation magazine’s Progressive Manufacturing 50. All four named SolidWorks software as a key technology enabling their success.
