SolidWorks World 2006 in Las Vegas approaches a record 3,000 attendees
Next month's annual user conference and expo only six weeks away
CONCORD, Mass., Dec. 7, 2005 ? Registrations are pouring in at a record pace for SolidWorks World 2006, the annual international conference and exposition for users of the #1 3D mechanical design software for the mainstream market. This year's event takes place Sunday, Jan. 22 through Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
SolidWorks World 2006 offers a multitude of educational opportunities with nearly 100 breakout sessions, focus groups, special Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) activities, and pre-conference sessions like the CAD Manager's Boot Camp. Attendees will learn new tips and techniques for working with SolidWorks® software, try SolidWorks partner solutions, network with peers, and hear product news first hand.
The annual offsite event, included with registration, will take place Tuesday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Attendees will get a taste of real stock car, drag, and ?autocross? racing, with multiple opportunities to get behind the wheel.
?SolidWorks World, especially the breakout sessions, is a great way to learn new information to increase user productivity, and clearly outweighs the cost of attending,? said Mike Baljak, CAD Support, Automation Tooling Systems, of Cambridge, Ontario , Canada . ?A number of business opportunities and great ideas are sure to take form as a direct result of attending SolidWorks World 2006.?
A surprise guest will kick off Monday's general session along with SolidWorks Corporation's CEO John McEleney and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Ray. Keynoting on Tuesday will be the celebrity design duo of Richard Seymour and Dick Powell of Seymourpowell, a London consultancy famous for futuristic designs for companies like Nokia, Minolta, and Hewlett-Packard. Seymourpowell has been ?inventing the future? for more than two decades by factoring social, economic, and technological trends into new products. The pair will spotlight projects like their recently unveiled ENV (Emissions Neutral Vehicle), a quiet, non-polluting fuel cell motorbike that can reach 50 mph but emits only water vapor.
Sunday afternoon's CAD Manager's Boot Camp will cover a wide variety of topics related to deploying and managing SolidWorks software. This special session will help system administrators and information technology personnel understand how a combination of IT, best practices, tools, and methodologies can help organizations maximize their investments in SolidWorks software. More than 350 users attended last year's boot camp. Pre-registration is required.
Wednesday's general session will feature a sneak peek at a few of the hottest features that will be included in the next version of SolidWorks software, SolidWorks 2007, as well as the next version of COSMOS® design analysis software. By tradition, users will submit specific enhancement requests, many of which will find their way into to the next version of SolidWorks software.
Throughout the week, SolidWorks World 2006 attendees will be able to see, touch, and sample more than 50 exciting new SolidWorks-designed products ? including toys, vehicles, sporting goods, and musical instruments ? in the popular SolidWorks World Product Showcase. The showcase will include interactive exhibitions, multimedia displays, and special surprises.
The SolidWorks World Partner Pavilion, sold out with more than 85 exhibitors, features a vast range of third-party products that complement SolidWorks software, enabling users to tackle virtually any mechanical design, engineering, or manufacturing challenge. Exhibiting partners include tech giants like Intel and Microsoft as well as companies focusing their efforts on CAD industry technology.
Last year's event featured keynote speaker Burt Rutan, founder of Scaled Composites, LLC and the designer of SpaceShipOne, the first private manned spacecraft to exceed an altitude of 328,000 feet twice within two weeks. The SpaceShipOne team, which used SolidWorks and COSMOS software among other CAD tools to design the craft, claimed the $10 million Ansari X-Prize.
Special surprise guests last year included personalities from Orange County Choppers (OCC), the custom motorcycle shop popularized on The Discovery Channel® TV show ?American Chopper.? OCC uses SolidWorks software to design the sweeping exhaust pipes, daring wheels, and other key features that make its street machines unique.
?SolidWorks World offers users a great chance to trade ideas with fellow SolidWorks users, developers, company executives, and partners,? said McEleney. ?Attendees take part in activities that are instructive and entertaining and leave restored, energized, and better prepared to accomplish great things.?
The conference fee of $895 covers all conference sessions, materials, breakfasts, lunches, and evening events. SolidWorks Corporation this year is offering a special deal enabling three conferees to attend for the price of two. For more information and to register, visit www.solidworks.com/swworld .
