More than 2,000 SolidWorks users to hone skills, meet partners, and explore innovative designs at SolidWorks World 2005
Space tourism pioneer Burt Rutan, developer of the world's first privately manned spacecraft, to discuss the role of 3D design tools in shaping the future
CONCORD, Mass., Jan. 3, 2005 ? The power of 3D design and its impact on everyday life will be on display for more than 2,000 members of the SolidWorks® software community at the annual SolidWorks World user conference being held from Jan. 30 ? Feb. 2, 2005 in Orlando, Fla.
Taking place at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, the conference will feature a product design showcase, customer success stories, networking roundtables, and more than 70 breakout sessions to help SolidWorks users hone their skills and discover new techniques for innovation and productivity. SolidWorks executives will also preview forthcoming products, including SolidWorks 2006.
The SolidWorks user conference highlights three cornerstones of the SolidWorks experience ? Power, Network, and Community. ?SolidWorks World has become a true community setting, with customers gaining deep product knowledge, hands-on training, and the most invaluable takeaway of all ? their own network of resources, including fellow users, SolidWorks employees, and partners,? said John McEleney, CEO of SolidWorks.
Keynote speaker Burt Rutan is the founder of Scaled Composites, LLC and the designer of SpaceShipOne, the first private manned spacecraft to exceed an altitude of 328,000 feet twice within two weeks. The SpaceShipOne team claimed the $10 million Ansari X-Prize. Rutan's team at Scaled Composites used a variety of computer-aided design (CAD) applications ? including SolidWorks 3D mechanical design and COSMOS® design analysis software ? to design the world-record-setting aircraft.
Rutan will discuss the importance of 3D CAD software on the future of innovative product design, among other topics. ?Design tools such as SolidWorks and COSMOS are playing an increasingly vital role in helping small teams of engineers and designers meet the challenges of today and tomorrow,? said Rutan.
More than 60 software, hardware, and manufacturing partners will occupy the Partner Pavilion featuring product and service offerings that complement SolidWorks software and help users to work more efficiently.
Other conference highlights include certification testing for users interested in becoming Certified SolidWorks Professionals and the annual SolidWorks User Group Network (SWUGN) summit. For a complete agenda, session descriptions, and registration information, go to www.solidworks.com/swworld.
