Save time and reduce development costs through design reuse by quickly finding needed data across a range of file types using the powerful searching tools in SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM). You can quickly perform file content searches on multiple data types (such as CAD files, Microsoft® Word documents, Excel® spreadsheets, Outlook® emails, and image files) and locate documents using a range of search criteria (including name, data, metadata, and workflow status).
Key advanced searching capabilities include:
Customized Search Forms
Fully customize file search preferences by configuring search forms called “Cards,” which present users with input fields relating to your company’s specific data. This tool enables you to search for items that make sense for your organization. You can even create and assign multiple search cards for specific users or groups to further tailor search capabilities.
Search Favorites
Save and share search criteria as “favorites”, providing you with instant access to common searches.
Content Searching
Use Windows® indexing to create a catalog of file contents to support more powerful searching capabilities. This allows you to search on a specific character string, such as a specification number in a note on a drawing or within a PDF file. This approach makes it easier to make changes if you need to update all affected documents.
Integrated Windows Explorer Search
Take advantage of how the system’s advanced searching tools work in concert with the Windows Explorer search capability. You can search for data directly inside Windows Explorer or use the separate SolidWorks EPDM search tool. This capability enables search from within the “File Open” dialog of any Windows-based application.
SolidWorks EPDM’s advanced searching capabilities enable you to spend less time looking for data and more time using it to help your organization succeed.
