Save time and effort communicating with internal departments, customers, and external suppliers by configuring the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM) system to automatically create neutral file formats. Instead of spending time manually generating neutral file formats, SolidWorks EPDM software can automate neutral file creation, ensuring all stakeholders have up-to-date information.
Using the Task function in SolidWorks EPDM, the system can be configured to automatically generate neutral files based on workflow events, or when initiated by a user. Additional tools for managing automated neutral file creation include:
Task Configuration
Pre-configure neutral file creation to run unattended or by prompting a user for certain information
Local vs. Network
Set up the system to generate neutral files locally on a user’s machines or offload that task to servers to free up local resources
Task Monitoring
The ability for PDM administrators to monitor in-process tasks, including neutral file creation, and confirm the results of completed tasks. Automatic notifications show if a task has completed successfully, allowing problems to be addressed quickly.
File Links
Link neutral files to source files and copy attribute information from the source file, ensuring that important information—like part numbers and material specifications—is not omitted.
Multiple File Types
Use the system to generate:
- Viewing Files:
- SolidWorks eDrawings® files (*.eprt, *.easm, *.edrw)
- Adobe® files (*.pdf, *.ai, *.psd)
- Image files (JPEG or TIFF)
- 2D drawing formats (*.dwg, *.dxf)
- 3D CAD formats (STEP, IGES, and ACIS)
