The ability to export bill of materials (BOM) data in multiple ways and formats has become critical for successful manufacturers. With SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM) BOM export capabilities, you can export and leverage BOM information for use in downstream applications and systems, and eliminate time-consuming manual entry of data. Easily define all the materials that make up a product (including mechanical parts, electrical components, software, documentation, and packaging) and export BOM data for use by both CAD and non-CAD users. With the SolidWorks EPDM system, you can:
- Connect your CAD system to your ERP (enterprise resource planning) or MRP (manufacturing resource planning) systems to easily update BOM information
- Export BOM data in multiple ways, including neutral file formats (without requiring access to the CAD-authoring application), data from SolidWorks drawings tables, and data from your BOM template
- Automatically create BOM data in XML format based on your specific workflow actions
