Data Import and Export
Import and export data between SolidWorks EPDM and ERP/MRP systems:
- Export bill of material (BOM) structure and attribute data via the industry standard XML format. This can take place automatically through initiation by specific workflow or life cycle events.
- Import data from external systems using XML, including file attributes or drop list contents. SolidWorks EPDM will continually monitor specified folder(s) and process the XML data when it arrives.
- Create alias lists to handle differences in attribute field names between systems to make sure that data is transferred correctly.
Bill of Material (BOM)
Save BOM information as text data by simply clicking a button in the user interface for import into ERP/MRP systems or spreadsheet applications. This method eliminates the need for manual entry or access to CAD applications to export BOM information from drawings.
SolidWorks Application Programming Interface (API)
Create custom add-ins or programs using common programming languages with the SolidWorks API, which is included with SolidWorks EPDM. The comprehensive API help system and coding examples can aid you in accelerating customization development time, which can maximize the return on your PDM investment.
