Automatically maintain all file reference information with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM), freeing you from the manual task of managing references between parts, assemblies, drawings, and other types of design data. The system manages references for SolidWorks files as well as files from other CAD systems and documents with OLE (object linking and embedding) objects. Conveniently view these relationships and quickly understand child and parent references—displayed as “Contains” or “Where Used” data—to make informed decisions. This capability also automates the creation of bill of materials (BOM) data, saving time while ensuring the accuracy of file references for design data.
With SolidWorks EPDM reference management capabilities, you can:
- Update references automatically when files are moved to different folders or renamed, saving time spent on fixing lost or broken references
- View parent-child file relationships inside Windows® Explorer
- Create your own user-defined references to establish links between files. Take advantage of this capability to produce complete BOM data by attaching non-CAD data or data from different CAD systems. You can even associate and link specification sheet or engineering change order files with CAD models.
SolidWorks EPDM File Reference Management capabilities make your design process faster and more accurate, enabling you to streamline your product development, manufacturing, and business processes.
