Design your SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM) implementation to meet the unique requirements of your product development environment, and tailor your system to meet your exact needs, using the comprehensive configuration and customization tools in SolidWorks EPDM. Implement the software right out of the box using one of the predefined vaults. To maximize productivity, collaboration, and communication benefits, many companies expand the system to include other departments, automate additional processes, and connect with other business systems.
You can utilize these capabilities to customize your SolidWorks EPDM implementation:
Configurable Forms
- Data Cards—Unlike many other PDM systems, which simply supply a list of information, SolidWorks EPDM provides greater flexibility through Data Cards. This feature, which can be configured easily using drag-and-drop controls, enables data to be displayed in a format that works best for you. Use images, drop lists, radio buttons, check boxes, text fields, other objects, or combinations to populate Data Cards and customize your PDM implementation.
- User Input Forms—Take advantage of these forms to capture input from users while creating new files or folder structures, and automatically drive this information into new objects. This tool increases the consistency and quality of data by reducing the amount of manual input required.
- Search Cards—Utilize Search Cards to configure input forms for search criteria to suit the needs of different users and departments. Some departments may only need a single input field (to search on a part number, for example), while other departments or users may need to search on multiple attributes.
SolidWorks API (Application Programming Interface)
Create custom add-ins or automation programs using common programming languages with the SolidWorks API included with SolidWorks EPDM software. The comprehensive API Help system and coding examples can help you speed development of custom capabilities that maximize your return on your PDM investment.
Dispatch
Create and execute many custom tasks without the need for programming expertise using the SolidWorks EPDM Dispatch tool. You can utilize this easy-to-use tool to carry out many system operations automatically triggered by an event or manually initiated by users via the in-context, right-click menu.
Custom Reports
Create customized reports or dashboards using the embedded SolidWorks EPDM report generation tool or Microsoft® SQL Server Business Intelligence software to monitor progress, or obtain system-related statistics to help you make business decisions.
