The Challenge
3form Design strives to combine industrial design with engineering to create a single resource that embraces styling, product psychology, engineering, and manufacturing. This approach avoids the inherent problems of pushing information from one department to another and allows the information to be pulled to one single source of design intent. We wanted a tool in which the design would develop as a computer solid model from the very first conceptual offering.
The Solution
We chose SolidWorks CAD software for its extensive set of features and, equally, for its affordability compared to other packages like AutoCAD and Pro/ENGINEER. SolidWorks CAD software presents a very fluid medium that allows arrangements and styles to be rapidly explored while maintaining attention to real-world constraints. Since using SolidWorks, it is apparent to our customer base that our concepts are developed using the latest computer design technology enabling us to build in real-world constraints.
