The Challenge
60 Hz Productions specializes in the conversion of 2D models and existing products not currently modeled in 3D. The design team needed a 3D CAD package that offered an intuitive interface and a short learning curve. In addition, they wanted to be able to convert AutoCAD files to SolidWorks, conduct reverse engineering, and design out-of-production items by creating exact replicas of existing products with highly intricate details and textures.
The Solution
The company chose SolidWorks CAD software because it offered a familiar, intuitive, Windows-based user interface. The team liked the quick learning curve as well as the many capablities that other software did not offer at this price. Today, they use SolidWorks to create animations of product designs and PhotoWorks to create photorealistic images. In addition, with SolidWorks Simulation finite element analysis software, they can evaluate the integrity of designs by simulating the wear and tear that these products usually undergo.
