The Challenge
AeroRad is a product design firm providing in-depth knowledge of precision designs, with a broad knowledge of form, fit, function, and tactile interface across a variety of applications. The company's design team is skilled in the design for manufacturability and the development of specifications, blueprints, production, and test processes. The team specializes in CAD/CAM interpretation and reverse engineering. AeroRad needed a 3D CAD system that would allow it to easily provide expert design, development, and modification of proprietary components for aerospace, biomedical, and electronics manufacturing applications.
The Solution
AeroRad evaluated several CAD packages including Pro/ENGINEER and CADKEY, but chose SolidWorks for its ease of use. The design team also liked using PhotoWorks to create photorealistic rendered images at the pre-production stage. The company also uses the animations capability in SolidWorks to create pre-fabrication functional studies.
