Ameripack

The Challenge

Ameripack is a custom packaging manufacturer and distributor specializing in hard-shell industrial cases. The company uses SolidWorks 3D CAD software because it needs to be able to design custom, die-cut foam inserts for production at its own fabrication plants as well as design its own lines of injection-molded cases and roto-molded cases.

The Solution

SolidWorks provides many benefits to Ameripak. The compatability between SolidWorks and other CAD programs is important. SolidWorks also allows the company to easily provide detailed drawings to customers in many file formats, particularly in PDF and SolidWorks eDrawings format, for their evaluation, giving us an edge over our competitors. In the design project shown here, SolidWorks helped Ameripack to reduce time and money for its customers in the shipping of replacement parts to their customers. Ameripack customers can now easily identify and replace parts that have been used from the kit without needing to do a complete inventory of parts returned from each kit. The use of SolidWorks aided in designing an innovative removable tray design for the case that incorporates the handles directly into the plastic tray, reducing the cost of the parts and improving the effective use of space within the case.
