The Challenge
Audio Products International (API) is a Klipsch Group Company, one of the industry leading manufacturers of home entertainment equipment. API designs, manufactures, and markets several of the world’s leading brands of high-performance audio loudspeaker systems. In 2003, the company upgraded its design engineers from the Mechanical Desktop design platform to Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software to accelerate new product development, but instead encountered stability, compatibility, and capability problems.
The Solution
API chose SolidWorks Professional software because of its ease of use; stability and reliability; wider range of capabilities, including sheet-metal design, mold development, and design configuration tools; data compatibility; and integrated SolidWorks product data management (PDM) software. By deploying SolidWorks, API boosted new product development by 100 percent, increased design innovation and complexity, improved the organization and management of product design data, and alleviated its application stability and data compatibility issues.
