Barry-Wehmiller International Resources
- Shortened design cycles by as much as 25%
- Reduced production time by as much as 30 to 40%
- Cut costs associated with ECOs and rework
- Improved collaboration/communication with customers
Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR) provides design and manufacturing systems consulting services to 25 Barry-Wehmiller companies and some of the world’s leading manufacturers. Lost productivity stemming from file conversions, data incompatibility, and design errors related to the inability to visualize the interaction of large assemblies in 2D, prompted BWIR to update its engineering platform to a single 3D design environment.
BWIR selected the SolidWorks 3D mechanical design system as its standard design environment because of the system’s large assembly functionality, ease of use, short learning curve, affordability, and communications capabilities. By transitioning to SolidWorks software, BWIR shortened its design cycles by 25 percent, reduced production time by 30-40 percent, cut costs associated with ECOs and rework, and improved its collaboration and communication capabilities with its customers.
