The Challenge
Breg, Inc. manufactures custom-fit knee braces for use in sports medicine and treating osteoarthritis. These braces are typically built from either casts of a patient’s leg, which are shipped to the manufacturer, or measurements taken with a complicated measuring instrument at the doctor's office. Many of Breg's products use injection-molded plastic parts. Using SolidWorks software instead of a 2D CAD system made mold design very easy, fast, and accurate.
The Solution
GoEngineer installed SolidWorks on my computer for evaluation after I had used PT Modeler. SolidWorks was more user friendly and was supported by most of our vendors and suppliers. After finishing the short tutorial for SolidWorks and playing with it for a couple of hours, I was already more proficient on SolidWorks than I was on PT Modeler. Shortly after that we replaced all our PT Modeler systems with SolidWorks.
