ECCO (Electronic Controls Company) is the world’s largest manufacturer of emergency warning products, such as back-up alarms and amber warning lights, for commercial vehicles. Expanding into new markets led the Idaho-based company to evaluate product data management (PDM) technology as a means for generating greater efficiencies and increased productivity. To achieve a high level of automation, the company needed to customize the solution to integrate with its core business applications.
ECCO chose SolidWorks® Enterprise PDM software, acquiring 25 licenses, because it is easy to use, is fully integrated with SolidWorks design software, and provides open Application Programming Interface (API) development tools. By implementing SolidWorks solutions, ECCO realized a 25-30 percent reduction in design review and approval time, cut configuration time from four hours to 30 minutes, automated its paperless review and approval process, and integrated PDM with critical business systems.
