Grandview High School
- Increased enrollment in technology classes
- Certified SolidWorks skills for over 100 students
- Produced TSA National CAD Champion and several top ten finalists
- Introduced simulation technology to high school students
Grandview High School’s Technology and Computer Science Department used to focus on 2D drafting. However, the school’s technical educators foresaw that designers and engineers using 3D would win the technology jobs of the 21st century. After years of teaching drafting classes using AutoCAD® 2D software, Grandview High School decided to investigate 3D CAD technology.
Following one year with Autodesk Inventor® software, Grandview High School implemented SolidWorks® Education Edition software for the 2005–2006 academic year and has used the software since. The technical educators chose SolidWorks software because it is easy to learn and use, offers flexibility in curriculum development, and offers a broad range of capabilities. By selecting SolidWorks software, Grandview High School increased enrollment in its technology classes, certified SolidWorks skills for over 100 students, produced a TSA National CAD Champion, and introduced simulation technology to high school students.
