The Challenge
Grenland Group is an engineering, procurement, and construction company that grew out of a market-driven demand for complex solutions. The company provides technology and fabrication services. As a result of multiple company purchases, the design team was using a variety of 3D CAD systems for 3D mechanical design. They wanted to focus on one package for midmarket 3D CAD systems. Conversion problems and the high costs associated with maintaining the engineers’ skills on many platforms were limiting productivity.
The Solution
The company evaluated several 3D CAD systems including Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, and Solid Edge but decided to standardize on SolidWorks software because of its intuitive user interface and ease-of-use. They also liked the ability to generate isometric piping drawings in co-operation with Piping Isometric software packages.
