The Challenge
Indo Shell Cast Private Ltd. is a foundry that manufactures and exports ductile iron and gray iron casting components. We are an ISO/TS-16949-2002-certified company. We were looking for 3D design software for several reasons: to help us reduce development lead-time, to achieve perfect similarity of all cavities in order to use common machining jigs and fixtures and assembly, to maintain quality to world standards in order to complete with technically developed countries, to earn brand-name recognition for our company and India, and to reduce development costs.
The Solution
With SolidWorks we can make very complicated parts very easily and in less time, even with less skilled operators. SolidWorks was also user friendly, easy-to-learn, and affordable. In particular, the Mold Draft Angle Analysis feature is useful for checking mold draft angles, and the fillet feature helps us to create the radius in complicated and drafted edges and corners. SolidWorks features for mass properties, moment of inertia, and surface area details are very useful for designing pattern tools and for some research.
