The Challenge
Teknion Corporation is a leading international designer and manufacturer of mid- to high-end office systems and related furniture products. To achieve its goal of developing products that consistently satisfy and exceed changing market demands, Teknion needed a 3D design environment that provided greater flexibility, agility, and creativity than the AutoCAD® 2D design tools that it had used.
The Solution
Teknion standardized on SolidWorks® Professional design software because the software is easy to use, automates the creation of design configurations, and improves design visualization. The furniture manufacturer added the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM product data management system to manage product design data globally. Most recently, the company began using SolidWorks Sustainability software to include environmental impact factors in its design decisions. Working with SolidWorks, Teknion has a partner that supports its long-term goals, enabling the company to quadruple its number of product lines; reduce development time by 50 percent; cut its prototyping requirements in half; and support its sales, collaboration, and sustainable design initiatives.
