"We could repair geometry from imported solids easily."

The Challenge
Inductoheat, Inc. is the leader in induction heat-treating machinery. The company recently received patents in revolutionary crankshaft hardening technology. The primary challenge was to design complex assemblies to heat-treat complex components like crankshafts. Inductoheat needed a new design system, but was concerned about functionality specific to its process.
The Solution
We evaluated several 3D packages, including AutoCAD, but chose SolidWorks software because it is easy to use and we could repair geometry from imported solids easily. Other packages we evaluated were time-consuming and tedious to use. With PhotoWorks we have been able to render photorealistic images for some great presentations. We also use SolidWorks' animation capabilities and SolidWorks Toolbox.
