The Challenge

Automatic Systems, Inc. (ASI), is a leading producer of material handling systems that automate manufacturing processes. After transitioning to the SolidWorks 3D CAD system in 1999 to boost large-assembly productivity and improve product quality, the company discovered that its internally developed document management system could only handle flat files. ASI needed a modern PDM system to manage associations and references within parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.

The Solution

The company selected SolidWorks Enterprise PDM software because of its easy-to-use Windows Explorer interface, industry-leading price-performance ratio, web-based operation, and data-preview capabilities. By implementing SolidWorks Enterprise PDM software, ASI reduced delays related to revision control issues, established fast data search and viewing capabilities, improved its management of design data by job, and expanded access to design data to other departments and partners.
