The Challenge
The Bosch Group is a leading global manufacturer of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology. Founded in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861-1942) as a "Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering,” the Bosch Group today comprises a manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service network of some 300 subsidiaries and more than 13,000 Bosch service centers in over 140 countries. One of the company's U.S. subsidiaries produces packaging machines for the pharmaceutical industry and needed to move from a 2D to a 3D system to deliver higher quality, more innovative products faster to its customers.
The Solution
The company chose SolidWorks 3D CAD software to produce packaging machines for the pharmaceutical industry because of the software's ease of use, large assembly capabilities, interference-checking tools, and SolidWorks eDrawings communications capabilities. By deploying SolidWorks, Bosch GmbH has doubled the number of development projects it undertakes, has saved time developing assemblies by using interference-checking tools, has achieved higher quality, and has improved its documentation function.
