"Being able to update a dimension on a drawing and having that propogate throughout the SolidWorks CAD software model is an invaluable asset."
- Michael Poteet, Mechanical Engineer

The Challenge

Newpoint Gas Services designs and builds processing plants for purifying natural gas for distribution, specializing in amine facilities. The company's process removes everything from water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, arsenic, and many other materials from natural gas. The company needed the ability to take its drawings to any fabrication shop in the country (or internationally) to have its plants manufactured. This requirement demanded an accurate 3D model for visualizing everything from walkways to valve access to basic interferences.

The Solution

The company chose SolidWorks CAD software because it was easy to learn for newcomers yet extremely powerful. The associativity and top down design abilities are crucial, as specifications are always changing. Weldments have become increasingly important as the company uses them for all of its piping.
