The Challenge
KryoTech, Inc., a privately held spin-off from NCR Corporation, develops innovative cooling systems for the personal computers employed by designers, engineers, and other users. The company needed the most advanced and cost-effective design and engineering tools available to capitalize on market opportunities and stay ahead of competitors. Specifically, the company needed an easy-to-use, fast, powerful, and affordable CAD system with both assembly and fully integrated engineering features including heat transfer analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and CNC machining capabilities.
The Solution
KryoTech chose SolidWorks® CAD software for its short learning curve, assembly features, integration with advanced analysis add-on software, and value. By deploying SolidWorks® CAD software, KryoTech slashed its design cycle from one year to three months, realized an 80-percent savings in CAD costs, increased processor performance by 30 percent, and reduced system size and number of components. The company's SuperG system, which uses an AMD Athlon chip, was the first commercially available personal computer to shatter the 1-GHz processing barrier. KryoTech uses a variety of add-on solutions including SolidWorks® Simulation software, SolidWorks® Flow Simulation fluid-flow software, and CAMWorks manufacturing software.
