The Challenge

Manufacturers of American Petroleum Institute (API) 6A wellhead equipment and API 16A drill-through equipment, Wellhead Inc. has been producing equipment for the oilfield for over 50 years. Our products include independent, 6A wellhead, 6A valves and block valves; Christmas trees; drilling flanges; coiled tubing heads; ring seal packers; EFT heads; and multi-bowl heads. Wellhead Inc. specializes in collaborating with customers to create their unique applications. The primary business challenge for us is to bring the highest quality products to market and, at the same time, meet the stringent guidelines of API. Utilizing some of the latest technology in the oilfield design industry to meet this challenge, we have also been able to manufacture a very safe and easy-to-use product.

The Solution

SolidWorks CAD software has allowed us to go from concept to production in a fraction of the time usually required. It has also allowed us to keep the same fast time schedules when working on customer-specific projects. By far the most important feature for us has been the ability of SolidWorks CAD software to make one model and develop several instances from that model. In the rapidly changing field of engineering, getting production drawings released on time is very important. SolidWorks allows us to create a base model and drawing and use them to implement other instances. As a result, SolidWorks CAD software has been instrumental in allowing us to allocate more time to R&D.
