Getting 3D CAD data from one CAD system to another is still a complex issue. IGES and STEP have yet to meet the expectations raised for CAD translation when they were created a decade ago.

And the fact remains that quality translation tools are required to ensure that accurate 3D geometry can be used outside of its originating system.

Elysium’s data exchange products are the industry’s leading and most accurate 3D CAD translation tools. The family of Elysium products have been developed so that they work directly with each supported CAD system and can make the required adjustments and corrections needed to provide seamless data exchange.

Benefits of using CAD•porter
Elysium’s CAD•porter software provides easy-to-use, bidirectional, geometry-based translation, with automatic healing that solves the problems experienced when trying to translate data:
• Transparent conversion of surface definitions
• Seamless healing of models from different tolerances
• Intelligent healing of trim curves with surfaces
• Correct resolution of topology differences between systems

Many companies use IGES or other standards-based translation to communicate between different CAD systems. The costs associated with these lowest common denominator translations has been documented at over $1B USD per year (NIST 1999). Elysium's focused direct translators can reduce this cost significantly by eliminating the hit or miss interpretation required with standards-based translators.
