Since 2001
V-veko has been providing design services to the toolmaking and sheetmetal
stamping industries.
The company
migrated to 3D design because they thought clients would appreciate
the easy-to-understand images of designs instead of or in addition to
2D drawings that are usually less intuitive.
One of the
company's goals was to reduce design time in all stages. Easy-to-use
blank shapes and strip building progams proved useful. Standard components
in solid formats also increased efficiency and reduced design time.
In this field,
V-veko developed a standard part for feed control that indicates when
the strip is in position. This feed controller has proven a great success
in the Swedish market. The company's next goal is to release the solution
in the inernational market.
Recently,
SolidWorks Express spoke with Holger Thomas about the company's use
of Logopress and SolidWorks software.
"Before
Logopress we used our “homemade” assemblies to create die
sets. Now, we launch all design projects in Logopress and in most cases
Logopress is the best way to continue as well. The ability to share
examples of simulation and blank shapes in an early stage assures our
customers that we are the best design resource for their projects."
How
has using Logopress improved your ability to communicate concepts to
your customers?
"The most impotant issue for us is that we can show a layout earlier
in a project's design cycle. We can also help our stamping customers
in their sales efforts. We can easily create layouts so our customers
can present a tool solution to their customers, allowing them to sell
the tool."
What
other advantages have you seen?
"Using
Logopress also allows us to create consistency in our designs because
we now have a standard on how we build our assemblies."
"The
most time we save is in the start of our projects. In total this means
10 to 30% timesavings on a particular job."
What
is the advantage of Logopress being fully integrated with SolidWorks?
"Our standard part supplier is now in the process of integrating
his catalog with SolidWorks. This is a significant benefit because the
designer can save time with single-window integration. Not leaving the
work you are doing is great!"
