SolidWorks
Express recently spoke with Heath Tecna engineering manager Tim Rankin
about the company's use of Cadpo's i.get.it eLearning system.
What
challenges led to your purchase of the i.get.it training?
"A large number of new Solidworks seats and
a limited number of experienced users, plus the need to evaluate where
people need help and then provide targeted training."
Describe
how you received i.get.it — for example, was it delivered as part
of a packaged service program from your authorized SolidWorks reseller?
"We puchased
i.get.it as part of a training solution from our VAR. We needed additional
ways to provide cost-effective training to our expanding SolidWorks user
base."
How
have you used .i.get.it measurable and customizable features to help you
manage company, department and individual training?
"With the SolidWorks Skills
Gap Assessment, we've been able to analyze knowledge gaps at both the
group and department levels to develop a skills improvement program. In
the future, we should be able to better target instructor-led/classroom
training from these assessments."
Describe
cost or time savings using i.get.it's online instruction, Skills Gap Assessment,
or referencable database
"On short
notice, one of our users needed to add a drawing course to his Learning
Path. He quickly learned the required skills in his spare time. The alternative
was off-site training and he couldn't at that time we couldn't afford
to lose his productivity even for a day."
How
has your company been able to analyze knowledge gaps within a group or
department to develop a skills improvement program?
"Once
our users completed the SolidWorks Skills Gap Assessment, we used the
reports within the administrative tools to drill down and understand the
type of training required for each individual. We can now better determine
the type of training required, whether it's online or instructor-based."
