RevWorks the right fit for apparel company

NEW! 16 customer video testimonials

VF Imagewear manufactures work, safety, and sports apparel. They are a division of VF Corporation, which is the world's largest publicly owned apparel company. VF Imagewear's principal brands are Red Kap, Horace Small, Bulwark, and R&R uniforms. Recently, Automation Engineer Barry Turner spoke with SolidWorks Express about his experience using RevWorks™ and SolidWorks® software.

Why does your company need a tool like RevWorks?
"Our R&D department builds machines or attachments around existing industrial sewing machines. In order to be able to design parts for these we need an accurate model of the sewing machine. This enables us to obtain accurate surface geometry and clearances in order to better design and mount attachments."

What tool or software were you using previously and what were the limitations?
"We were using calipers, scales, protractors, and several other manual instruments that were time-consuming and prone to human error."

Why is single-window integration with SolidWorks software an important benefit?
"The single-window integration allows us to import an existing model into SolidWorks, and edit that model through RevWorks and still have all of the SolidWorks features available."

Identify the RevWorks features most important to your company.
"RevWorks allows us to locate holes and other features on irregular surfaces, and allows us to better represent the irregular surfaces in our models. This makes designing a part more precise because it will better fit the machine we are attaching it to."
