The book today represents the most up-to-date work in the field of technical documentation of industrial products and is the result of a continuous work of modification, updates and revisions that the authors have engaged in these twenty years, in truth forced to do so by the continuous evolution of the topics covered. . Alongside the traditional topics present in each technical drawing text, some parts have been drawn up to help understand the importance and place of the drawing in the current production reality. The first chapter, which intends to be a synthesis of the new methods of representation of constructible objects, between well-established techniques and innovative proposals, which allow to simulate not only the appearance but also the behavior of mechanical organs, is followed by a large chapter dedicated to a general introduction to the issues of the life cycle and development of the industrial product and the tools used for its management (even with a brief historical digression). As clearly highlighted in the chapters dedicated to the Tolerances topic, the geometric sizing of the details, or, better said, the "Geometric Specifications of the Product" (GPS), have assumed fundamental importance. This is clearly evident from the extent of the chapter dedicated to them (more than 100 pages, completely revised compared to the previous edition) and from the presence of related concepts also in the treatment of dimensional tolerances and dimensioning. In fact, making the prescriptions related to control needs prevail, over the more generically design and technological ones, involves an approach that is sometimes more difficult to understand, also due to the presence of legislation that is not always immediately perceptible and is still rather limited in the environments. of work. A complete SOLIDWORKS tutorial (basic course) has been added to the appendix of the first volume of this book: Professor Tornincasa has conducted training courses on GD&T in many of the main manufacturing companies in Italy, and it is from this activity that he has derived his skill and experience in functional design. The book is updated to the most recent GD&T ISO and ASME standards and, following the choice made in volume I, the topics of the SOLIDWORKS advanced course (advanced modeling, design validation, kinematic and dynamic analysis) have been reported at the end of each chapter.
