The SOLIDWORKS 2025 Tutorial is written to assist students, designers, engineers and professionals who are new to SOLIDWORKS. The text provides a step-by-step project-based learning approach featuring machined components with additional design projects. Instructors are provided PowerPoint lectures (50 plus), labs (10), and student and instructor chapter quizzes. Initial and final SOLIDWORKS models are included for each chapter and homework section. Over 100 models are provided as classroom examples using various SOLIDWORKS features, sketches and mate types. It is a great starting point for those new to SOLIDWORKS or as a teaching aid in classroom training to become familiar with the software interface, basic commands and strategies as users complete a series of models while learning different ways to accomplish a particular task. The book is divided into four sections with 11 chapters and 10 final projects. Chapter 1 - Chapter 5: Explore the SOLIDWORKS User Interface and CommandManager, Document and System properties, simple and complex parts and assemblies, proper design intent, design tables, configurations, multi-sheet, multi-view drawings, BOMs, and Revision tables using basic and advanced features and sketches. Follow the step-by-step instructions and develop multiple assemblies that combine over 100 extruded machined parts and components. Formulate the skills to create, modify and edit sketches and solid features. Learn the techniques to reuse features, parts and assemblies through symmetry, patterns, copied components, apply proper design intent, design tables, and configurations. Chapter 6: Create and learn about large assemblies using Standard, Advanced and Mechanical mates. All assemblies and components for the final ROBOT assembly are provided.Chapter 7 - Chapter 10: The Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) chapters provide detailed information and resources for the instructor to educate their students about the exam. Details are provided on the login procedure; 3DEXPERIENCE Certification Center at (https://3dexperience.virtualtester.com/#home) for instructors (If your school is an academic certification provider) to allocate free exam credits for Segment 1 & 2 of the CSWA exam. Login information and procedure is provided for students to register, examine their certifications, manager their account and take the exam. Segment 1 of the CSWA Academic exam is 90 minutes, minimum passing score is 80, with 6 questions. There are two questions in the Basic Part Creation and Modification category, two questions in the Intermediate Part Creation and Modification category and two questions in the Assembly Creation and Modification category. The chapters examine and explains each category with sample questions, answers, and tips.Segment 2 of the CSWA Academic exam is 90 minutes, minimum passing score is 80 with 8 questions. There are three questions on the CSWA Academic exam in the Drafting Competencies category, three questions in the Advanced Part Creation and Modification category and two questions in the Assembly Creation and Modification category. The chapters examine and explains each category with sample questions, answers, and tips.Information is provided on the free online student CSWA sample exam. Note: The book provides the free online CSWA sample exam in pdf format along with the SOLIDWORKS models, solutions and additional sample exam examples. There are over 50 practice questions and examples with exam screen shots.Chapter 11: The Associate Additive Manufacturing (CSWA-AM) chapter provides a basic understanding between Additive vs. Subtractive manufacturing. Discuss Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), STereoLithography (SLA), and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) printer technology. Select suitable filament material. Comprehend 3D printer terminology. Knowledge of preparing, saving, and printing a model on a Fused Filament Fabrication 3D printer. Details are provided on the login procedure; 3DEXPERIENCE Certification Center at (https://3dexperience.virtualtester.com/#home) for instructors (If your school is an academic certification provider) to allocate free exam credits for the CSWA-AM exam. Login information and procedure is provided for students to register, examine their certifications, manager their account and take the exam. The CSWA-AM certification exam is 50 questions. Each question is worth 2 points. You are allowed to answer the questions in any order. Total exam time is 60 minutes. You need a passing score of 80 or higher. The exam is out of 100 points. Bonus section: An eBook for SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is included.Detailed information is provided to obtain a 3DEXPERIENCE ID (login credentials) to access the platform. Install the Design with SOLIDWORKS App. This provides the ability to upload, store, manage and share files. The platform enables you to collaborate with students and teams on and off campus through a browser. Think of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform simply as a SOLIDWORKS Add-In on your desktop. Experience a single modeling environment. Access the platform within the SOLIDWORKS Task Pane.Nine step-by-step tutorials and models are provided to practice and understand the tools and advantages of SOLIDWORKS and the platform.
