As the SOLIDWORKS brand has grown over the last 30 years, it has also evolved beyond being a design portfolio. It now covers four domains, with roles/products that have become core to our offering. 

In September 2025, the SOLIDWORKS brand updated the names of several products to help distinguish the SOLIDWORKS brand from the SOLIDWORKS CAD product.

The name changes are outlined below for your reference: 

SOLIDWORKS CAD

“Design” has been added to the name to maintain consistency with other products, such as Simulation, PDM, and PLM.
