The SOLIDWORKS application converter provides an automatic, batch-enabled, conversion from SOLIDWORKS drawings into neutral data formats including TIFF, PDF, or PDF/A (digital paper). To meet Security requirements of long-term archiving, document formats are required that are not editable and can be viewed long-term. Proprietary application data does not currently fulfill these requirements, and is not an acceptable archiving format. It is often the case that these formats are not made public, and are changing constantly with new releases of the application, making long-term readability almost impossible. Neutral formats like PDF, PDF/A or TIFF/G4 can be stored for the long-term and viewed at any location. These formats are open and standardized by industrial or ISO organizations and are often referred to as "digital paper." The application converters from SEAL Systems are designed and developed to convert application data into digital paper formats. These converters can run in batch mode and can therefore be integrated into any conversion process. For example, in the SAP PLM environment, the converters can be triggered by the status change of a document. That document is part of a release workflow process, automating the creation of digital paper like TIFF/G4, PDF or PDF/A when a drawing is released. All SEAL Systems converters, including the SOLIDWORKS application converter, can be integrated into any PLM solution for automatic conversion processes.
