What are Blue Tokens?

Blue Tokens are how SOLIDWORKS AI activity is measured and metered across your AI Virtual Companions. Tokens are consumed only when an AI skill is executed and produces a result. Simply interacting with the Virtual Companion does not consume Blue Tokens. Token usage occurs when the Virtual Companion performs a metered task, such as assisting, generating, analyzing, modifying, or automating work on your behalf. So, you only spend tokens when work is done.

How Tokens Work

Token consumption scales with the value and complexity of the outcome, not the number of times you click send. Token consumption is grouped into three tiers:

  • Simple Skills — Quick insights, questions and basic guidance consume a small number of tokens
  • Moderate Skills — Standard tasks like assembly performance analysis or converting an imported part to a parametric model consume a moderate number of tokens
  • Complex Skills — Complex outputs, such as full drawing generation or highly detailed part generation, consume more, reflecting the significant time saved

You don't need to manage costs on a skill-by-skill basis. The token model is built around the value delivered to you.
