The Swiss company, Smartflyer Ltd. (https://smartflyer.ch), is on the threshold of a new era in aviation, moving from traditional combustion and jet engines for propulsion to aircraft that utilize pure electric, electric/gas hybrid, and electric fuel cell-based motors for propulsion.

Founded by CEO and Design Head Rolf Stuber, Smartflyer is anticipating the increased need for electric motors in certain areas of aviation because they are emission-free, light, powerful, and extremely reliable due to their simple design.

With a projected range of more than 400 nautical miles and four-passenger capacity, the aircraft produces 50 percent less CO2 and 60 percent less noise with 30 percent lower direct operating costs. The Smartflyer is set for its first test flight in 2023.
