ABA BEUL GmbH
- Increase in production quality with a simultaneous reduction of costs
- Standardization and simplification of data administration by using SolidWorks EPDM
- Reduction in the number of required prototypes thanks to simulation software
- Improved communication with photographically realistic product views during the design phase
The ABA BEUL GmbH family business, founded in 1895 in Attendorn, Germany, produces and develops pioneering products in the fields of building services engineering, water treatment, joining technology, and custom casting. The design team was faced with the challenge of optimizing the product development process: the jungle of data from two different CAD systems was to be standardized and simplified. Reduced design times, improved product quality and safety, and the associated cost reduction were to be achieved with the help of professional software tools in the areas of 3D design and simulation, data management, and product documentation.
The product range of SolidWorks solutions covers all areas and features that ABA BEUL needed for the optimization of product development processes. In the first step, SolidWorks CAD was implemented. SolidWorks Enterprise PDM, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, and Solidworks Composer followed in the second step. The user-friendly navigation and intuitive user interface helped the design team to quickly find their way around the new environment. With the help of flow simulation software, diverse factors such as different water temperatures or slight loss of pressure can already be taken into account during the design process! Whereas tests used to be conducted using complex and expensive prototypes, the designers now conduct virtual tests under realistic conditions using a PC. Reduced design times and a simultaneous increase in product quality and reduced production costs lead to overall cost reduction. Thanks to the SolidWorks EPDM data management solution, it is easy to trace the status of different versions, more effectively and safely manage workflows, minimize error rates and thus also further reduce costs. SolidWorks Composer makes documentation child's play because the data in the documentation is adjusted in real time for each design change in development, reducing sources of error.
