In order to give you more time to submit ideas to the SolidWorks World 2013 Top 10 List we decided to postpone the start of voting one week. Voting will now open up on Dec. 12^th. We encourage everyone to continue to add and comment on ideas to make sure your favorite ones reach the top of the Top 10 List.

If you are a Windows XP user you need to read the announcement concerning the end of support for Windows XP.

SolidWorks 2012 is the last release that will run on Windows XP.
SolidWorks 2013 will NOT INSTALL on computers using Windows XP.

Hello - We have received reports that users receive error messages when downloading the SP3 Service Pack. Solution S-058899 contains information regarding these errors and also appears below:

“Could not connect to the SolidWorks server to determine which products you are entitled to” Other variations of the error may be the following: "The entitlement information received from the Installation Manager server is corrupt;" "A Serial Number could not be verified because of a temporary problem connecting to the server"

First, please verify that you have an Internet connection. If you have an Internet connection the most likely explanation for this is excessive volume or traffic connecting to the SolidWorks entitlement servers.

During the first few days after a new service pack or major version is released the volume can be overwhelming for SolidWorks servers. Please be patient and try the download \ install \ upgrade again later.

DS SolidWorks Corporation has detected a workflow that may result in the FeatureManager missing items or having entities listed at an incorrect position in the FeatureManager. This issue may occur with files that have multiple configurations during the conversion of data from a prevision version to SolidWorks 2012 SP0 or SP1. Files created in SolidWorks 2012 are unaffected.

SolidWorks 2012 users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to SolidWorks 2012 SP2 as soon as possible to avoid this issue. A hotfix is also available for SolidWorks 2012 SP1 users and attached to Solution S-058181.

Symptoms: Affected files will be missing entities in the feature tree, such as features and mates in one or more configuration of the model.

Correction: The fix in SolidWorks 2012 SP2 and the SP1 hotfix prevents the issue during conversion. In many cases, the fix can also repair affected files that have already been converted. Once repaired, the issue can not recur.

If SP2.0 or the SP1.0 Hotfix does not resolve the issue with a particular file set, then please collect the problematic SolidWorks files and contact your SolidWorks Reseller for further review.
