For most figurines, PLA is the easiest and most forgiving material—it’s affordable, low-warp, and ideal for detailed models. Resin provides higher detail for miniature prints, while ABS or PETG are better for durability or heat resistance. SOLIDWORKS for Makers lets you prepare parts for either FDM or resin printing by adjusting wall thickness and tolerances.

You can prepare parts for PLA, PETG, ABS, resin, and other 3D printing materials by adjusting wall thickness, infill, and tolerances. SOLIDWORKS for Makers helps you fine-tune your design for both filament-based (FDM) and resin printers to get reliable, high-quality prints.

The CSWA/P test is an on-line test that can be taken on any computer that has SOLIDWORKS running and a connection to the Internet.  The test runs in its own client window separate from SOLIDWORKS.  You can either run the exam software on the same computer as your SOLIDWORKS software or in a separate computer next to the one running SOLIDWORKS.  Please note that if you are taking the test on a separate computer that you have some means to transfer files from the computer running the testing client to the computer running SOLIDWORKS.  Dual monitors are recommended but not required.

As stated above, an internet connection is required for the CSWA/P exams.  At this point there are no provisions for a stand-alone exam.

CAD software, such as SOLIDWORKS for Makers, is used to create, edit, and prepare 3D models with precise dimensions and assemblies. 3D printing software, often referred to as a slicer, converts CAD models into printable layers and generates the instructions that your printer follows. You design in CAD, then slice and print.

Start by sketching your base pose, then build the body and features using parametric or surface modeling. Next, verify the model's geometry and undercut analysis to ensure it will print cleanly. Finally, export your design as an STL or 3MF file for printing, and finish by sanding, painting, or assembling your printed parts.
